CHAPPED LIPS

You can do the following things for your chapped lips

TREATMENT OF CHAPPED LIPS

a.- use an oil-based lubricating cream, such as Aquaphor Healing Ointment, or lip balm containing petrolatum or beeswax.

b.- Apply lip cream, balm or lipstick before going out in cold, dry weather.

- Reapply several times while outside.

c.- Choose a lip cream or balm that contains sunscreen.

- Sun exposure contributes to chapped lips.

d.- Avoid licking your lips.

- Saliva evaporates quickly, leaving lips drier than before you licked them.

e.- Avoid using a flavored lip balm, which can tempt you to lick your lips.

f.- Stay hydrated by drinking plenty of fluids.

- Dehydration can contribute to chapped lips.

g.- Use a humidifier at home to keep air moist.

If chapping is severe and self-care measures don't seem to help, consult your doctor.

Rarely, persistent chapped lips may indicate an underlying problem, such as dermatitis.

Go to wal-mart and buy this stuff called Carmex. its only a doller but it works. you should also try drinking lots of water. good luck!
1. Make sure you do NOT lick your lips.

2. STOP using ANY of the products you have tried---you may actually be allergic or just plain and simply sensitive to them

3. LOTS of water to make sure you are not dehydrated.

4. TALK to your PHARMACIST NOW.....they know both PRESCRIPTION and OVER THE COUNTER products. MAKE sure you tell them EVERY item you have tried---write them down BEFORE you head there.

you can MILDLY and GENTLY exfoliate your lips---you cant moisturize dead skin---you have to remove that. use a SOFT CLEAN toothbrush and GENTLY (after you moisten it with water) rub it in circles over your lips. You could also use a washcloth to do this--but, may not be as effective.

Hope this helps.....
I just had the same problem a week ago and OMG did it hurt. I had tried everything Carmex to Abreva (yeah I know it's not for chapped lips) What I found was most of the stuff was to thick for my severely dried lips to absorb enough of the moisture, I went to Wal-Mart and picked up ';Softlips'; and applied it frequently. It's light enough and has enough moisture that within 48 hrs I was getting some relief. I hope this helps.
The best thing I've tried is A %26amp; D ointment. It tastes really bad but works great.
Drink more spring water or bottled water with minerals.
