Do you ever put on carmex lip stuff and get a weird cold feeling on ur lips? cuz ido. issomething wrong withme

do i have like a strange medican issue or something?Do you ever put on carmex lip stuff and get a weird cold feeling on ur lips? cuz ido. issomething wrong withme
yes i get the same...thats because if basically numbs your lips because itz medicated...very normalDo you ever put on carmex lip stuff and get a weird cold feeling on ur lips? cuz ido. issomething wrong withme
OMG IT FEELS SO GOOD WHEN IT'S COLD . well it isnt that cold, but it feels

really cool on my lips . its really a awesome product . other than the way it gets rid

of chapped lips . i mainly like it for the way it feels :) Report Abuse

Yeah, I get that too. It's the ingredients in carmex. The same thing happens you put on the original Burts Bees lip balm.
Always! It's something in the carmex!
That always happens with carmex.... i used to have some, but i changed to vaseline lip therapy
nope! It has something called menthol/or mint. It is in many cosmetic products to give that cool feeling on your lips. Many people like it.
if you're using it for chapped lips, try something else.

I use cortibalm and it's the best lip balm ever. There is no added scent and before, I just put up with dry, cracked lips because i hated Chapstick and Carmex, ect. because it didn't work and smelled terrible and tasted gross.

Send for a sample.
lol don't worry honey ^_~ it means that it's working

it's good for you trust me

  • Do you like Carmex Lip Balm or Gloss and do you think it is addicted?

I love the brand and its product but one i put it on i like that tingiling feeling and i want to put a lot on, can you tell what is this and why, why do like or hate this product.Do you like Carmex Lip Balm or Gloss and do you think it is addicted?
Yes they are addicting. Your lips become dependent on them for moisture and healing instead of you just drinking more water. I found that my lips are heathier looking and feeling once I stopped using Carmex. Chapped lips happen alot when you use Carmex also.

Carmex is considered an illegal substance in Utah because it is addicting.Do you like Carmex Lip Balm or Gloss and do you think it is addicted?
im sooo addicted to lip gloss i own 100s of them lol
Yes it is addictive especially carmex I think it is because of the menthol. Which is the same ingredient that is in cigarettes. They actually have a website for people that are addicted to lip gloss
i love both! neither of them r. u can use both first carmex then gloss

How do you remove a CARMEX lip balm stain?

its on the back pocket of my khaki pants. I've washed them a few times already. How do you remove a CARMEX lip balm stain?
I would use Dawn dish soap and it will cut right threw the grease of the lip balm. How do you remove a CARMEX lip balm stain?
spray and wash works well on greasy stains..or try hand washing the stain with your laundry detergent..that might work too.
if the pants are color fast, use a solution of Oxi Clean and water and then wash in the hottest water safe for the fabric...

if the pants are not color fast, try some dish soap OR laundry spray OR Avon Bubble Bath (I have a friend who swears by the stuff)...and wash with laundry soap and the hottest water safe for the fabric...

also, add a half a cup of Borax or Amaze to your wash water and that may help, it certainly won't hurt...

  • Better lip balms for very chapped lips?

I have terribly chapped lips all the time. I need a lip chap that makes them look better and actually helps the problem. One must is that it sinks in quickly because I have a touch of trichotillomania (i touch, pick at, bite, and lick my lips way too much). Also, if you're going to lecture me on the bad habits, please don't. I'm much better able to stop the bad habits when my lips are smooth--it's just hard to get them that way.

These are the best brands I've tried lately:

-Burt's Bees (everything they have)--It makes them look better and feel better and protects well but it comes off too fast, is sticky, and doesn't seem to actually helps

-Bare Escentuals--see above and it comes off even faster than Burt's Bees

-Prescriptives--Overpriced and does nothing for me

-CO Bigelow Mentha Lip ...-if i can keep it on my lips for more than an hr it works, but it's sticky

-Exuviance Multi Protective-Not sticky and protects (I especially like that it has quality sunscreen cause it helps keep things from getting worse), but doesn't actually seem to help the problem improve and even if it stays on, it stops working after like an hr

PLEASE HELP!Better lip balms for very chapped lips?
I use carmex every night before bed. It works amazingly and is about $1 a tube. It tastes a little foul, but that's why I use it while I'm sleeping.Better lip balms for very chapped lips?
You can try this thing from Mary Kay that my Cousin told me about. I tried it and wouldn't use anything else. The product looks a little different but from reading it, I think it's the same thing. Just scrub your lips with one then apply the lip balm after..
you could try carmax, vaseline, neutrogena, etc. I use the Co Bigelow the most though. Vaseline and Carmax dry pretty fast and not very sticky...
    Hi there,

I have answered a similar question like your recently so below i am going to share the same info with you.

Dry/Chapped lips are most common amongst those that are lacking in certain vitamins, poor diet or lack of water. Key is staying hydrated by consuming adequate amounts of water and aiming for a balanced diet rich in fresh fruits and veggies. The weather (cold or dry air) can also contribute to chapped but can be kept under control by using a good Organic Lip Balm like this one.

    http://greengirlorganics.mionegroup.com/鈥?/a>

I swear by this protective balm which i practically sleep with. It contains shea butter, avocado and sunflower oils which works in conjunction to soften and smooth rough, chapped lips while scented with divine organic orange and vanilla.

Again water or fluids keep the body in a moist state to ultimately promote soft and supple skin.

Avoid wetting lips with you tongue in hopes of fixing the problem -- it only makes it worst by darkening the skin color of your lips and it becomes even drier.

Keep re-applying the Organic Balm as needed and apply under lipstick if you wear the latter.

Avoid peeling the dead off of dry lips but instead keep up with the Organic Balm until the unwanted skin comes off on it's own.

Choose Lipsticks that adds moisture like these ones -- avoid matte formulas.

    http://greengirlorganics.mionegroup.com/鈥?/a>

For a home remedy, apply a mixture of a few drops of glycerin and pure honey and let sit for about 20 minute before wiping off. They are both a natural humectact and moisturizer and will aid significantly .

    Hope this helps!
i know about the lip balms you want, they are just not coming to my head!

well, i use the mac tinted which probably isn't good for dry lips

    you could try blistex

    nivea

i like lip smackers again not the best for dry lips

i also like body shop ones they smell great! and they stay on for aaaaages

get like a nourishing cocoa butter one, they work quite well

maybe look in magazines for recommendations that have been tried and tested?

i just looked through my own collection

i have this really good one that works really well, it is...

    mentholatum

    softlips

vitamin enriched lip conditioner spf 20

    trust me, it works

they are quite thin sticks that they come in

i got the vitamin one and the mint one which i really liked till i lost it...

Lip balm or petroleum jelly for dry/chapped lips?

Do you recommend lip balm or petroleum jelly for chapped lips?Lip balm or petroleum jelly for dry/chapped lips?
I recommend buying Aquaphor, it works great, u'll never go back to anything else...it's also recommended by dermatologistsLip balm or petroleum jelly for dry/chapped lips?
If they are bad, I would definitely go to the store and buy a medicated lip balm for dry/chapped lips. Petroleum jelly is good for keeping everyday healthy lips moisturized. (But then again - if you dont' have lip balm - it's better than nothing)!
I personnally trust Chapstik because when something is on your mouth, chances are it'll go into your mouth and body. Make sure what you use is non-toxic. If it's one of those days that no amount of lipbalm works, I just apply it before going to bed and leave it on overnight, and my lips are totally soft in the morning when I wake up!

Burt's Beeswax Lip Balm or Chap Stick?

    Burt's Bees.

What is the best lip balm for chapped lips?

Through the last few years I have tried both the sticks and overnight treatments of: Blistex, ChapStick, Vaseline.

Now I am giving Burts Bees: Beeswax lip balm, a try. But my lips are still peeling!!What is the best lip balm for chapped lips?
Drink more water and use a natural, non-petroleum based product on your lips. Out of the ones you have mentioned, Burts Bees is the best but you have to keep hydrated, out of the wind. the product will help prevent peeling, but once you're already peeling, it will only help to protect your lips but it won't make the damage disappear or go away. It needs to follow it's natural cycle. Also, make sure you're not licking your lips as this will cause them to dry and chap even faster. What is the best lip balm for chapped lips?
blue box, blistex complete moisture: heavenly!
Carmex really cover and seal in moisture. I am dealing with the same issue. I also like to use C.O. Bigelow's lip balm from Bath and Body Works. I hope they work for you.

    Good Luck!
Burts Bees,Vaseline, and sometimes lip gloss might help cause it works for me.
Natural Ice. it's cooling and it's great too.I love it. Won't use anything else. The rest suck!
Try exfoliating them before you go to bed, to get rid of dead cells. After brushing your teeth, you could just scrub your lips with your toothbrush after. Just not too hard. Then lubricate your lips when some moisture is freshly locked in your cells. I like Carmex, as do many others apparently. I hope this works.
    I use carmex
I use Mentholatum every night. Works great!
    Aquafina hydrating lip oil.
Carmex is great.........comes in cherry , mint and strawbetty flavored now.....
When I was 22, I came down with cold sores and somebody recommended using Carmex. It didn't really help the initial break out, but it did make my lips feel better. I'm now almost 39 and still use it daily and firmly believe it helps stifle breakouts and instantly relieves dry lips. And, btw, it contains bees wax, but it's considered an ';inactive ingredient';.
i like chapstick, burts bees, and aquaphor. . .
    Carmex
    CARMEX!!!
I like to use Carmax! It works great for chapped lips.
    hey ,

    1. wipe lips where the crustyness is at a minimal

    2. apply carmex on them

    3. place a little vaseline on them (the vasiline will fade away

    4. do this everday and i swear it will go away
    carmex, 2x a day
my favorite kind is carmex and the best part about it is that you can get it for under $1 at walmart
    carmex carmex!!
    vaseline
brush ur lips with a toothbrush and apply a large lump of vaseline over night in the morning you will see what a significant difference it has made, ive tried evey lip balm ranign from blistex lush, body shop to big department stores lip balms (clinque, mac)
take any favorite lip balm, chapstick whatever you want to call it.

Put it on your lips, get a wash cloth put warm water on it and then press your lips over the wash cloth (hard) for 10 seconds. Then put your lip balm or chapstick on again.

Another way to sure this problem, is to take a hot wash cloth and run your lips. This helps exfoliate the lips and all the blood goes there and creates nice luscious red lips, and a little puffier, without the botox!

    TRY IT OUT.
Maybe its your toothpaste... I have had a reaction to tartar control toothpaste that made my gums, lips and the skin around them peel.
you might try giving your lips a break from moisturizing, maybe even lightly exfoliate them before bed. when we train our bodies to expect things they stop doing what they would normally do without them. hence, people who wash their hair every day don't have enough oil in it and so their scalp produces more, forcing them to wash their hair everyday. A vicious cycle. :)
blistex fruit smotties the green one is best
Use regular Vaseline - not the stick or overnight treatment, but the greasy stuff that comes in a tub. Slather it on your lips every night before bed, and they will get noticeably better soon.
When I have a dry spot on my lips that won't seem to go away with chapstick, I rub some really moisture intensive hand cream into my lips a few times a day. The kinds that leave your hands feeling waxy or filmy seem to hold the moisture longer. Once the dryness goes away, switch back to chapstick as a preventative. If this is a persistant problem, make sure you're not licking your lips. When they are chapped, it seems natural to lick them to relieve the dryness or pain, which just makes the problem worse. If the problem is really bad, see a doctor
Carmex for sure! Apply liberally. I love the tingling sensation.
CARMEX is definitely the best! Especially if your lips are already peeling or cracked! My lips always get that way...and so far Carmex is the only type that has healed my lips! After that you can try any flavor of lip balm from Body Shop. They're products are awsome and keep your lips from chapping well smelling good and not all mentholated!

What is the difference between chap stick and lip balm?

';Chap Stick'; is a brand, while lip balm is the general term (like when people say Kleenex instead of tissue or vaseline instead of petroleum jelly) What is the difference between chap stick and lip balm?
ChapStick is a brand name for lip balm

I really like Lip Vitamins Lip Balm or Aquafina's Hydrating Lip balm (not the oil). Both leave a nice smooth feel to the lips without being sticky or waxy feeling. Aquafina also leaves a VERY slight shimmer/sheen...great subsitute to lip gloss!

I highly recommend Carmex. It truly works miracles on damaged lips.

Wal*Mart and Walgreen's both carry it.

Also,Medicated Chapstick, which has the white tube and blue label,is great as well.

You can buy it at Wal*Mart. It's located up by the checkout counters in most of the WM stores.

    And,Blistex DCT,which comes in a pot--like Carmex--which is dark peach colored.

You can purchase it at K-Mart.
Carmex and Chapstick do both work very well. (both can be bought at wally world or target) But lean more towards chapstick, carmex is actually addictive. It moisturizes your lips, but doesnt keep them that way so you'll eventually always be buying more. You can look it up.

And also, try to twice a day (morning and night) take a wet toothbrush, dip in sugar, and /lightly/ scrub over your lips for 1 minute. Really does help quite a lot. Make sure you put some Chapstick on after. Hope this helps!
Well, while carmex and chapstick and things like that do work... they are not pretty and they don't taste or smell very good. I used to have that problem and all I wanted was my lips to be uncracked and stuff. I used carmex for a long time and it did work but it never really made my lips soft. Then one of my friends told me about Neauties and I tried it and now I use it every night and all day. I wear it at night to prevent from getting the lip grossness back and during the day because it looks really pretty and natural... i don't like the really bold colors of lipstick. I usually buy the gift set because I use so much of it and it's more convenient for me to buy 4 at a time... but I think that if you are trying to get rid of your chapped lips then you should use the Peppermint. If yours is anything like mine was then you know that it is VERY VERY PAINFUL! The peppermint kind of got rid of the pain some and it tasted really good (because i'd been used to carmex... and i DO NOT like the taste of carmex!).

Once my lips started healing up I started to use the other flavors though!

    http://neauties.com/

if you want to go straight to the peppermint... this is it (this is what healed my lips in the first place) :

    http://neauties.com/Category72/Peppermin鈥?/a>

Hope this helps! I really think it will though. Oh,and it says lip gloss but it's more like a balm, but I don't really think that it matters as long as you can get your lips healed up! This is only sold online, but its totally worth the 10 bucks!!
    CARMEX

    its amazing..

    wroks straight away..

you can get it in superdrug.

its usually in a tiny tin thing..white bottom with a yellow lid..saying cermex on it ..

and its in a tube too,,

but the one in the tin is better!
Carmex like the others have said works the Absolute best. You can find it almost anywhere to. Its yellow and red and about the size of a regular chap stick. Walmart, drug stores, even some gas stations!
    burts bees, carmex, and chapstick

look for them at your local pahrmacy : walgreens, CVS, rite aid,

or at : Walmart or Target

even at local grocery stores in the check out isle near the magazines and gum....
Burt's Bees. You can get them pretty much anywhere, even a bookstore like Border's or Barnes and Nobles sells them. Or Bath and Body Works
rosebud salve. you can get it at sephora. it's amazing.
carmex and chapstick are best! you can buy both from Target.
    carmex works wonders
carmex, chapstick, softlips, burts bee, and lip gloss
    Burt's Bee's Wax!

What tinted lip balms work for chapped lips?

Lip gloss never stays on for me, and my lips are really chapped, so I was wondering what tinted or colored lip balms would work well. Smackers is amazing.
u well perosnally i dont think u can find a cahpstick that has color but thought for chapped lips burt bees wax lip balm is the best it heals ur lips and does not *** of easily like ohter chap sticks also u can try the lancome juicy geles they are like lipgloss combind with chapsyick so they keep ur lips smooth they are in colors but i think when u put it on the color doesn't really show up beacuse i bought the lancome juicy gelee and i bought it in pink i thought the color would be like pink but actaully the color was almost clear so yea but these are the best products to h eal lips , burts bees wax is more like if u want to heal ur lips with a chap syick, and lancome juicy gelee is if u want smooth lips that wont dry but they have appearnce of a lipgloss but they also help heal ur lips, but if u have really dried lips theni recommend using burt's bees wax lipbalm

When I put lip balm on at night,The next morning,my lips are chapped......?

Don't use lip Balm, Because most of them are just lip gloss. They make your lips soft for a bit, but in the long run it is just more perfumed chemicals on you lips.

If you really need to use stuff because your lips are dry, use Vaseline. It is cheap and Un-perfumed too. (Although if you really want a coloured one you can get a pink one.!)

http://rubysdreamhome.files.wordpress.com/2008/06/vaseline.jpgWhen I put lip balm on at night,The next morning,my lips are chapped......?
If the lip balm has perfume in it or it's kind of like lip gloss, then it can dry out your lips. I'd recommend using Burt's Bees or carmex (I think carmex works better). I use it before I go to bed or whenever my lips are chapped and it gets them back to normal pretty quickly. When I put lip balm on at night,The next morning,my lips are chapped......?
I suggest you try using vaseline of petroleum jelly. It works really well, and it works like a lip balm. Just put some on and in the morning, your lips might feel funny but after washing your face and etc., they'll feel really soft.

    Good luck!
Use an oil based lip balm, not a petroleum base. And don't use too much.

And if it really bothers you, don't put lip balm on at night.
its because chap stick wears off. the same thing happens to me. its hard to make a lip balm that lasts 12 hours haha.
It just wears off, try slathering it on at night.
maybe u should put on more : )

Try to avoid anything 'medicated', or with mentol, peppermint, etc. They can be very irritating, and make things worse, plus can burn like the dickens. I like Chapstick All Natural or Cococare cocoa butter lip balms. Both are very soothing, and last, so you don't have to keep applying.
Chapstick, the medicated formula. I'd go with that rather than a balm because you're using your fingers to aply the balm, if there are germs on your hands, they'll get into the balm and into the open wounds in your lips. I have very dry lips and this chapstick works really great!
    Kiehl's lip balm
Two of my favorite lip balms are the brands Chapstick and Burts Bees. Chapstick has a lip balm that is called chapstick medicated. I got this off of the website it is telling about their chapstick medicated. (Some days, it takes a little more to get your lips looking and feeling their healthy best. That's what ChapStick庐 Medicated is all about. Its special formula includes four powerful ingredients. It quickly soothes the pain, hydrates with moisturizers and seals in moisture with a light, protective barrier to help heal severely dry, chapped lips. For that extra care your lips may need to feel healthy, be sure to keep ChapStick庐 Medicated close at hand.) They also have a lot of other really good lip balms. I use those brands all the time because my lips get really dry. Hope this helps!
carmex...it's the best for anything or bag balm. they work great
    Mac's Lip Conditioner
    Burt's bee's is pretty nice
chap stick.or the kind at sally beauty salon in a round container by the register
Carmex . . . it tastes like hell but it works the best.
I wouldn't use Carmex, the menthol in it is actually very drying. Some of Burt's Bees has peppermint oil which is also drying. My favorite is C.O. Bigelow's My Favorite Lip Balm from Bath %26amp; Body Works, it has really good moisturizers including shea butter. Plain old Vaseline works great too!
    Carmex works great for me
    blistex
    bllistex is a good one
I can't live without my Lip Medex by Blistex. I have it everywhere, my purse, my car, on my nightstand, and in my desk at work. It's smells like a combination of vanilla and mint and I love it!!!!

    Chapped Lips?? Lip balm?

My lips are so chapped and gross from a cold what lip balm works really well?Chapped Lips?? Lip balm?
    cocoa butter!!

    its amazingChapped Lips?? Lip balm?
err...vaseline, carmex, burts bees, creme de la mer the lipbalm (its really really good but also v. expensive for a lip balm), chapstick, clinique superbalm, elizabeth arden 8 hour cream (multipurpose gd as lip balm)

hope this helps...those lips sound painful!!! =]
Try softlips. You can find it at wal-mart. It's medicated, and you can feel it ';tingle'; when you apply it, as it softens the dry skin on your lips. It is cherry-scented, which is far more pleasant than the scent of most medicated lip balms.
I always use Chapstick when I have chapped lips. It works really well. Cherry is my favorite :]

Here's a link to the website.

    http://www.chapstick.com/

Good luck! Hope those lips feel better!
i use burts bees... mine's strawberry flavored...it's really good or you could try blistex medicated chapstick... it's good for really chapped lips too...my friend uses it
    ew

    dude its summer !!

i dont remember the brand i think its like burts and bees or something, but when you choose flavors choose mint, or honey because its cooler and will keep your lips softer for a longer time..
at night put vasaline on them. during the day you can either use soft lips(i like rasberry or vanilla) or burts bees, which work really well(all natural)
Chapstick is the only thing that ever works for me. Get the original blue one- flavorless. It's the best one.
    Chapstick Medicated Lip balm.
forget lip balm try vasaline. it works, trust me.
    vaseline!!! or chap stick
    burts bees is good

Best lip balm for REALLY chapped/painful lips!?

What's the best lip balm (preferably a kind I can get from a drug store) for really dry painful lips? My lips are never this dry and they HURT! I've tried bag balm, normal chapstick...nothing helps! Any suggestions??Best lip balm for REALLY chapped/painful lips!?
Try Burt's Bees medicated, or even just regular Burt's Bees lip balm.

It has this cooling, soothing sensation that I think would be great for your lips.

    Plus, all organic!

    Burt's Bees rocks!

Once I tried it, I never went back to chapstick.

The only down side is that it's a lip balm, so you have to apply with your fingers. Even though it's not messy or anything, I just don't really like that.

Other than that, the only thing that I can think of is Chapstick Medicated.

Good Luck!Best lip balm for REALLY chapped/painful lips!?
Dessert Essence tea tree oil balm

Get it at Whole Foods or any other natural food store. You may also find it in the natural products section of your grocery store.

    ps

Petroluem based products will not work as well. Petroleum is an inorganic substance that does not allow your skin to breathe or allow nutrients to penetrate.
maybe you should try exfoliating your lips.

just moisten your lips with warm to hot water for a few seconds and then take half a teaspoon of sugar and scrub it on your lips with your finger.

    after that, use vaseline.

or, have you tried the brand CHAP STICK ? It's usually better. And try the medicated kinds so it helps heal your lips.
    try carmex..

    http://www.carma-labs.com/#/Products/Car鈥?/a>

i find it really helpful for dry and chapped lips
Softlips is the best! Cures them almost instantly! Or atleast that is my favorite! Or even chapstick..medicated works really well!
go with simple vaseline at night and a bert's bees lip balm for the day...

vaseline is so under used and it works amazingly!

    good luck :)
CARMEX. Works miracles. Stays on for ages, not like all the others which seem to disappear off your lips within half and hour.
I personally like Burt's Bees....however at night you should try putting vaseline on your lips if they are extremely dry. Trust me, it helps!
    Carmex
    blistex medicated
soft lips is not cakey or gross feeling and it leaves your lips velvety smooth!
    nivea SOS lipbalm
    olive oil
To be honest i think vaseline is the best option. I find all the others to just smell good.

    x
    carmex.

    its the best out there.

I got addicted to lip balm(I apply it everyday) and my lips got chapped??!?

Okay, i got addicted to lip balm. Mine is from The Body Shop which i got for 12Bucks with SPF 15. I applied it several times a day and my lips got chapped suddenly! My lips were never chapped! What should I do? Is there a possibility that excessive use of lip balm can cause chapped lipsI got addicted to lip balm(I apply it everyday) and my lips got chapped??!?
lip balm can cause chapped lips becuase its for external use only especially if its spf 15+... external use means use until your chapped lips get better like only use it for a week and dont keep applying it. its probably burned your lips because you used it incorectly. use a lip gloss for everday use and only use lip balm for chapped lips.I got addicted to lip balm(I apply it everyday) and my lips got chapped??!?
Does it feel like a rough patch of skin on your lips, or like there are tiny bumps? I get that when I use some chapstick with sunblock. I'm allergic to the sunblock ingredient. Switch to a chapstick without sunblock and see if that helps. You may be able to find out what compound you're allergic to by reading ingredient lists. If you wear a moisturizer with sunblock without problems a chapstick with the same sunblock ingredients should be fine.
no lip balm doesnt cause chapped lips, it prevents it, its very cold outside thats why you get chapped lips and its also very dry outside. i use lip balm several times a day too.
your lips probably had an over dose. try to only use it every other day.

Is bag balm good for chapped hands?

Bag balm works really well for lots of skin problems, especially chapping and dryness. I would recommend that you put it on your hands before bedtime and then put on a pair of those thin cotton gloves and you will see improvement within a couple of days. When I am gardening I will actually put a thin layer on before putting on my gardening gloves and will not get any blisters or abrasions from friction. It is great for chapping and dryness from cold weather and will help cure rashes and bug bites. I think it works just as well as some of the most expensive hand creams. Have a good night. Is bag balm good for chapped hands?
IT IS GOOD FOR BAGS, HENCE THE NAME BUT IF YOU PUT A LOT OF BAGS IN YOUR HANDS WHO KNOWSIs bag balm good for chapped hands?
    it's great stuff

Lip balm or Petroleum Jelly for dry/chapped lips?

Do you recommend lip balm or petroleum jelly for dry/chapped lips?Lip balm or Petroleum Jelly for dry/chapped lips?
Use petroleum jelly first. Put a layer on your lips and leave it on. It helps moisturize your dry/chapped lips - it also helps that nasty flaking skin coming off dry lips as well.

Chapped stick works better if your lips aren't that severely dry.

Otherwise the gunk from the chapstick will be stuck in the little dry flaking skin areas and your lips would look pretty much worse.

These are just quick fixes...you gotta drink some water!

Good luck.Lip balm or Petroleum Jelly for dry/chapped lips?
    Petroleum jelly
Petroleum Jelly! That's what my dentist uses when I visit him and he thinks that I have dried lips!
i keep a small container of petroleum jelly with me and that helps alot. My lips tend to get chapped alot so I also use Cliniques All About Lips. It is like a lotion for your lips and works wonders. But it runs about $20 for .41 FL OZ/12ml bottle. But you don't need much so it last a long time.

For chapsticks I also use Burtsbee's and Victoria's Secret Beauty Rush Chapstick with SPF 15. They are about $7 apiece and come in watermelon and Vanilla flavors that taste so good!
Petroleum Jelly all the way. it heals faster. go with Vaseline
    i would recommend Petroleum Jelly

    it really does work

    much better than lip balm
I would go with lip balm with some sort of spf. And also, when you are brushing your teeth, toward the end, take the toothbrush and brush it over your lips. Also, you can take salt and petroleum jelly an make a little salt scrub to get off dead skin as well! Hope this helps!
I find the best results with petroleum jelly or Chap Stick. Chap Stick seems to stay on longer. Be careful because some lip balms will irritate chapped lips, especially the flavored ones. (except for Chap Stick brand, it never irritates me)

    Hope this helps.
it depends on how chapped or dry they are...

but petroleum jelly aways works for me.

once ur lips are healed, use lip balm daily
Either/or. Petroleum jelly is cheaper but messier. I also think it depends on what causes the dry/chapped lips...but if it is nothing specific and just dry lips, I'd really advise ROSEBUD, which is a combo of both. Not, however, the Smiths Strawberry but the Classic Rosebud or alternatively Sephora's Mint version if you prefer. I also like Kiehl's lip balm, which is very very much like petroleum jelly, as is Rosebud but somehow Rosebud has always been better for me.
Petroleum Jelly i use it at night on my lips and wake up with beautiful smooth lips.
petrolium jelly........I live in extreme temperatures (-60), with heaters on everywhere indoors, thus the EXTREME dryness we experience here is insane. I and others vow petroleum jelly is the all time cure.
Petroleum jelly makes mine ten times worse - go with the lip balm!
    Petroleum jelly.

i apply it like 10 times a day, lol!!

and thats why my lips arent dry =]

i hope it works for you - good luck =]
    I use petroleum jelly.
balm petroleum tastes bad and comes off too easily. balm lasts longer
    lip balm.

I have chapped lips. They become worse during the winters. Can you suggest a good lip balm for me?

aveeno intense relief lip balm. it works amazingly for me, isn't too greasy, doesn't wear off for quite some time and even has a soothing, minty sensation and taste to it.

hope this helps!I have chapped lips. They become worse during the winters. Can you suggest a good lip balm for me?
I use 'Nivia a Kiss of Moisture' and I love it!!! And if your lips are REALLY bad I would put some neosporin on them at night, dont use vasaline because it will make them hydrated now but in the longrun they'll get dryer (just like when you lick your lips) and try to exfoliate your lips once a week with sugar (sugars natural so it wont have anything harmful for you lips in it).I have chapped lips. They become worse during the winters. Can you suggest a good lip balm for me?
CARMAX BABE, BEST THANG MADE 4 LIPS,TRUST I CARRY IT EVERYWHERE I GO. THE BEST WAY TO APPLY IT IS TO RUB IT ON THE EDGES OF UR LIPS. THEY *** IN TWIST TUBES,SQEEZE TUBES,AN THE NORMAL CAP ON CAP OFF STICCS. U CAN FIND UM IN ANY DRUG STORE.
    Cherry Chapstick.

    :]

    It works every time.

And if they get reallyyy bad then

    get the medicated kind.

You find them in drugstores everywhere.
Mine do the exact same i always use the brand chap stick i know its a weird name but it works for me i would use original it works best=)
I think softlips is good to prevent chapping or if your lips arent chapped too bad.. But if it is bad, i'd go for lucas pawpaw ointment.
    Burts Bee's Natural Lip Balm(:

Its completely natural, and it feels soo nice when you put it on; its like really soothing and cool. Plus, its peppermint! :]
    Vaseline

    Paw Paw ointment...

use body shop's lip balms... oh they are wonderful!! especially the rasberry flavour!!
Neutregena or something like that. It's norvegian.

Does Lip Balm hydrate chapped lips?

Does Lip Balm generally hydrate chapped lips? It doesn't say it moisturizes or anything. But is it just shine, like lipstick does color?

    lip balm = shine

    lipstick = color

    chap stick = hydrate?

Is that right?Does Lip Balm hydrate chapped lips?
Yup. You got it right =)

Chapstick has Petroleum jelly (Vaseline basically) and aloe in it, so it heals chapped lipsDoes Lip Balm hydrate chapped lips?
I've never found lip balms anywhere near as good as Elizabeth Arden's Eight Hour Cream. Comes in a tube that you can use on lips, elbows etc, but also in a lipslick form, which also comes in clear (like the tube cream) or about 6 different shades...so it colours while it cares!
Lip balm can hydrate. It's great for shine too, but if you use it for a awhile, your lip should be nice and hydrated. Also lip gloss can help to moisturize too. I personally like lip gloss the best because it gives the most shine and my lips are never chapped.
    lip balm can also hydrate
    yes that is rite

Which is the best lip balm for very chapped lips?

    Vaseline!

    looks like this

    http://worldofkimmiejjjjj.web-log.nl/pho鈥?/a>

it's amazing, when I go skiing I get chapped lips and use this it heals it then stops you getting them if you put it on (and they get really chapped skiing) or you can use normal vaseline on your lipsWhich is the best lip balm for very chapped lips?
It all depends on the lifestyle you live. I am a chapstick fanatic and here are the products I do and don't like:

Burt's Bees: It's natural which is always a plus, but the moisture factor isn't really there. If you get the all-weather one, it leaves a white film on your lips which has SPF in it and will protect you from damaging your lips with the sun, wind and rain.

Nivea A Kiss Of Moisture: This is my #1 favorite chapstick. It's leaves your lips shiny and fresh while locking in moisture. You'll need to apply it ever 1.5 hours of so, but it's totally worth the moisture you will receive.

Vaseline: This is another good one, but can leave your lips a little brittle. The oils are not the best and can affect your skin making it break out if you get it on your face.

ChapStick: Yes, the brand ';ChapStick.'; It's decent, but doesn't have a wow factor. The original formula will provide you with minimal shine and minimal moisture, it's great if your lips need just minor attention. The one that is blue and says moisture, will just do the same. It's not that great. If I HAD to choose this brand - I'd go for the naturals. Oh, ChapStick also sells a medicated one for SEVERELY Chapped lips, I LOVE this one.

Read the ingredients, choose something that is natural and doesn't contain extra shimmers and scents. Don't use lipgloss either! Lipglosses promote chapped lips because of the chemicals in them. Good luck. :)Which is the best lip balm for very chapped lips?
exfoliate your lips, 2 times a week is enough, your lips are the most delicate skin on your body so be gentle, rub in circles with a soft towel or mix sugar + olive oil or sunflower oil or vitamin e oil, to make a paste, scrub ur lips in circles using ur finger for 20seconds then splash with cold water and apply oil on its own, when that has fully soaked in apply lipbalm!

    drink more water

try applying olive oil to your lips before bed, makes my lips soo soft as it soaks in fast and hydrates them for hours!

    best lipbalms:

Burts Bees (the Honey kind is the best)

    Beauty Rehab Lip Balm

    Strawberry Carmex Tube

    Avon Lip Conditioner

Paul %26amp; Joe limited edition Disney Milky Lip Treatment

    L'oreal Pastel Repair Lip Cream

    Blistex Intensive Moisturiser

    Vanilla SoftLips

most people recommend vaseline, it prevents them from drying out further but it hasnt actually got any ingredients in it to moisturise your lips, but the pink Rosy Lips vaseline has added rose and almond oil! its the only kind of vaseline that makes my lips silky soft even after its worn off, heres what it looks like: http://www.kissandmakeup.tv/RosyLips2-th鈥?/a>

(ive tried pretty much every brand lipbalm there is lol!)
^-^ not a brand specifically, but always look for a lip balm with vitamin E, it will definitely help your lips!, %26amp; if your looking for a brand stick to the original aloe vera vaseline balm. it moistens your lips for a very long time!
Carmex is great as it works really fast, although I don't like it for everyday use as things with petroleum jelly are meant to dry out your lips even more in the long run. For everyday use I like Burt's Bees stuff or even nivea creme is quite good.
Chapstick Medicated. It heals and has sunscreen/SPF 4.

My lips were really dry from my having a fever a while back, and the cooling sensation of the Chapstick really helped.
just dont buy vaseline, i spoke to a profecional and she told me that vaseline actually makes your lips worse even though when you put it on its alright for the time being but on the other hand it is very bad.
Balm Balm by Baume Levres. You can buy it in Superdrug. It's 100% natural and doesn't contain petroleum jelly which is actually harmfull.
Straight up Petroleum jelly/ Vaseline is probably your best bet for very chapped lips. Anything else might irritate the skin.
i have all ways used vaseline but recently brought some of the nivea lip care, it comes in like a lipstick sized tube and also looks lip glossy! and works well with chapped lips
Nivea. it smells and looks really good. theres different colors and it also works as a chapstick. or just use vaseline it makes your lips smooth and unchaps them :)
I wouldn't recommend chapsticks that have menthol in it. (Carmex, softlips, chapstick) because those dry out in the long run.

    Try burt's bees :)
nivea lip balm works REALLY great, if you are wondering why it looks like a glue stick, its because its a mexican brand and thats how all lip balms are in mexico

but chapstick its ok, and lip gloss works well, too
go to sleep with tons of vaseline, then in the morning, wet a towel %26amp; rub your lips

i do this every day, my lips are perfect now :)
smackers with glue or Vaseline with glue im not being funny it works and don't put the sticky glue on put the glue sticks they work better
Honestly petroleum Jelly is the best thing you could ever use. It says specifically on the tube that it's for chapped skin.

Or blistex complete moisture is good too (just not as good)
carmex! its lovely %26amp; its been said that i taste really nice haha ;)

vaseline is also really good, but a bit greasy

nivea lipbalm is really good but it goes realy really quick
Carmex in the squeeze tube. This will heal your chapped lips by keeping them moist. After they are healed, if you want they make a stick now.
vasiline with a little sugar added to it really helps ..

    also berts bees works nicely
    Carmex !

My lips used to bleed so my sister told me to use carmex, and they haven't been bleeding since. It doesn't have the best smell, but it works really good !
palmers cocoa butter you can buy it in stick form specialy for the lips...smells yummy too!!!
    chapstick medicated brand!

its amazing it works in about two days and it makes your lips feel smooth!

    :D
Worked in the cosmetics industry for 4 years. It's Rosebud salve 100%
I use blistex in the blue tub. It gives a cooling sensation....but it makes your lips soft.
ChapStick brand chapstick. i use the 100% botanical medley. it works really good.
    CARMAX!!!!!
    Original chapstick or Softlips.
Burts Bees original. Also, drink alot of water!!
    balm balm

eliabeth arden eight hour cream for lips

yes to carrots lip balm :D
    Chapstick, or Vaseline.
    CHERRY CHAPSTICK!!

dont get carmex. chapsitck is just as good and smells better.

    or burtsbees.

What's the best lip balm out there for really chapped lips?

i use the original chapstick which is the one with black cover and pink inside it really helps.... when carmax dries after like 5 min it gets worse so carmax sucksWhat's the best lip balm out there for really chapped lips?
use a chapstick that doesn't have petrolum in it. try going to a health food store and get something natural. i like burt's bees beeswax.

also...don't lick your lips : ) It'll dry them out more. What's the best lip balm out there for really chapped lips?
I have had this problem my whole life until I strarted using carmex. It is typically for cold sores but it works on chapped lips. Also start drinking a lot more water because you are probably a little dehydrated.
    chap stick or Vaseline
    Medicated Chap Stick
    Carmex in the jar
Honey. Apply to your lips and let it sit for 10-15 minutes, try not to lick it off in the meantime. When you brush your teeth brush your lips too, it helps exfoliate the dead skin. Do this a couple times a day for a few day and your lips should be soft as ever.
Other brands try, but nothing beats good old Carmex.
    Chapstick.
    Bee balm

What's a REALY good moisturizer beside lip balm for chapped lips?!?

try blistex lip infusion. it's a liquid that is applied with a silver ball. it works great and is fun to apply. i have it in the cherry flavor and love it. it's about $2.What's a REALY good moisturizer beside lip balm for chapped lips?!?
vasaline works for meWhat's a REALY good moisturizer beside lip balm for chapped lips?!?
Try cocoa butter or shea butter; both have vitamin E, which helps the skin.

I use shea butter in between my lipstick/gloss and it has proven to be very helpful. You can even get the traveler sized shea butter for about 79 cents and it will last forever. You only need a little dab and you don't have to apply it daily. I've tried lip balm and Vaseline and found this to work so much better.
I've always liked the Vaseline lip moisturizer. Vaseline always make the skin soft.
    vaseline or A%26amp;D ointment.
    Vasaline
To help heal the chapping, I recommend Herpecin L - really slather it on overnight so it soaks in, it will heal and exfoliate the flakes. After I get out of the shower, I rub the lips with a towel to keep them exfoliated.

When I put my eye cream on, I rub the excess into my lips. It's good for them because the skin on the lips is thin and delicate like the eye area.

Then the key is to CONSISTENTLY keep the lips moist - I like the Blistex product line, including the fruity lip balms - they stay on and aren't too shiny.
Seriously, vaseline...No lie. I always thought it was tacky, but everyone on here suggested it so for the past two weeks, I have been using this little jar of it and my lips feel so great. They look good too. Trust yahoo answerers. It works.
Vaseline is a great product! You can buy it almost anywhere and in any form. It comes in a tube, a small jar, or a big jar. It really works, and if u look, u can find it in different flavors.
Avon's moisture therapy intensive mousturizing lip treatment. It's cheap and works great!
Lotion can be used as a substitute for lip-balm, although I'm not sure if its better.
To me, the best and cheapest is petroleum jelly (Vaseline). I also like Vaseline because I am allergic to bees wax. Also, you can use it to take off eye makeup!
Have you ever masked your lips? It's a form of exfoliation which will remove the dead surface cells and allow the moisture of a lip balm to absorb into your lips. Mary Kay Satin Lips set is awesome!

Good lip balm for chapped, winter lips?

Does anyone know of a good lip balm for this time of year? My lips are red raw and i need a good lip balm.I've tried a few but all of them seem greasy and don't do much for me.Can someone recommend a good lip balm for me? Thanks.Good lip balm for chapped, winter lips?
    probably Bert's Bee's

that is the best, but another that is generally for cold sores, but helps A LOT would be Carmex.

you can usually find those any where.

also, Blistex LipFusions are good too.Good lip balm for chapped, winter lips?
    carmex
    burts bees!!!

    its the best.

it refreshes and softens your lips:]]]]
I work for Bath and Body Works and the C.O. Bigolow is a very good product if I might say so myself. I don't sell everything to everybody but this is one lip balm I would. Also I've found Burts Bees to be a good product as well. We use to sell it we don't anymore.
    carmax and or burtbee's

    i have Burtbee's
burts bees replenishing lip balm at any local drugstore
carmex, comes in a small pot. You can get it anywhere
It's hard to beat good old Vaseline. Burt's Bee's and Carmex are also fine. The ones that DON'T work are the $15-30 ';lip conditioners'; from the likes of MAC, Estee Lauder, Neutrogena and others.

I'm a chapper--I've tried them all. Even some nude/sheer lipsticks. Go with the tried and tested.

C.O Bigelow lip balm, it's comes in a black tube and has mint in it. It's perfect for your lips if you don't want it to be greasy, it comes out matte. You can get it at any C.O bigelow store, or Bath and Body work's store since they are the same company.

Carmex is a lip balm used to heal chapped lips. Can it be used on Cold Sores (Herpes)?

You can use it, but it only helps with some of the symptoms. Abreva is an over the counter med that is used to treat/shorten the healing time and there are also prescription meds that may help: acyclovir or penciclovir. Be careful not to contaminate others through kissing, sharing lip balm, etc.Carmex is a lip balm used to heal chapped lips. Can it be used on Cold Sores (Herpes)?
All meds have possible side effects - your pharmacist or doc can help answer those questions. Lots of people use these meds with positive results and no problems. The Abreva is probably the best tolerated (lowest risk of side effect) and if that doesn't help, see a doc about acyclovir, et al. Report Abuse

  • What can be done for exteme chapped lips? I;ve tried stick, bag balm, vaseline and even antibiotic ointment.?

It's been at least 3 weeks. It also very embarassing. I have full lips that tend to dry but they have even been swollen. helpWhat can be done for exteme chapped lips? I;ve tried stick, bag balm, vaseline and even antibiotic ointment.?
    CHAPPED LIPS

You can do the following things for your chapped lips

    TREATMENT OF CHAPPED LIPS

a.- use an oil-based lubricating cream, such as Aquaphor Healing Ointment, or lip balm containing petrolatum or beeswax.

b.- Apply lip cream, balm or lipstick before going out in cold, dry weather.

    - Reapply several times while outside.

c.- Choose a lip cream or balm that contains sunscreen.

    - Sun exposure contributes to chapped lips.

    d.- Avoid licking your lips.

    - Saliva evaporates quickly, leaving lips drier than before you licked them.

e.- Avoid using a flavored lip balm, which can tempt you to lick your lips.

f.- Stay hydrated by drinking plenty of fluids.

    - Dehydration can contribute to chapped lips.

g.- Use a humidifier at home to keep air moist.

If chapping is severe and self-care measures don't seem to help, consult your doctor.

Rarely, persistent chapped lips may indicate an underlying problem, such as dermatitis.

Go to wal-mart and buy this stuff called Carmex. its only a doller but it works. you should also try drinking lots of water. good luck!
    1. Make sure you do NOT lick your lips.

    2. STOP using ANY of the products you have tried---you may actually be allergic or just plain and simply sensitive to them

    3. LOTS of water to make sure you are not dehydrated.

    4. TALK to your PHARMACIST NOW.....they know both PRESCRIPTION and OVER THE COUNTER products. MAKE sure you tell them EVERY item you have tried---write them down BEFORE you head there.

you can MILDLY and GENTLY exfoliate your lips---you cant moisturize dead skin---you have to remove that. use a SOFT CLEAN toothbrush and GENTLY (after you moisten it with water) rub it in circles over your lips. You could also use a washcloth to do this--but, may not be as effective.

    Hope this helps.....
I just had the same problem a week ago and OMG did it hurt. I had tried everything Carmex to Abreva (yeah I know it's not for chapped lips) What I found was most of the stuff was to thick for my severely dried lips to absorb enough of the moisture, I went to Wal-Mart and picked up ';Softlips'; and applied it frequently. It's light enough and has enough moisture that within 48 hrs I was getting some relief. I hope this helps.
The best thing I've tried is A %26amp; D ointment. It tastes really bad but works great.
Drink more spring water or bottled water with minerals.

    carmex. its awesome.
    burts bees!
    burt's bees !!!!!!!!!
I had HORRIBLE chapped lips, it was actually some sort of condition I had, for probably five years. I used Carmex, but it got addictive and I had to use it much too often. Aquaphor is the ONLY thing that has worked for me, highly suggest you try it
I would recommend the basic Chapstick brand or Blistex.
Use Petroleum Jelly Vaseline, It's very effective and it will make your lips soft and smooth. You can use it even for wind burns, that's how effective it is. Put some on your lips before going to bed and whenyou wake up in the morning, your lips are soft. Ive tried it with lipstick also. I put lipstick then use vaseline as gloss. It really works!
    Big fan of Burt's Bees....
blistex medex. its a little blue jar. you can get it anywhere.
    deifnitly blistex, or carmex

AND at night, before bed, take a toothbrush and gently brush your lips, that will get off some of the dead skin, and make them softer, and THEN once youve done THAT, put on some blistex or carmex.

    good stuff
Put some Vaseline on your lips right before you go to bed. By the time you wake up, they will be smoother than a baby's bottom.
old remedy .....tiny bit of olive oil every time the lips feel chapped ........OR Petroleum vassaline......good luck
Vaseline is by far the best. I keep a little jar on my nightstand %26amp; have been applying it for years. My lips are smooth %26amp; never dry/chapped, not even during the cold season.

    blistex!
I just use vasoline, but I once heard a survival tip of using ear wax, like if you are stranded in the snow... It probably works.
    vaseline
    carmex is good
Vasaline over night is fantastic for any dry/chapped skin!

I've heard that Burt's Bee's is awesome, but I prefer chapstick or Bath and Body Work's lip balm.
    Burt's Bees is the best!
nono, aveeno oatmeal lipbalm works WONDERS. oh my god with the perfect combination of jojoba oil and oatmeal it even smells good

Have you ever used ';Bag Balm'; on chapped lips?

I heard someone say it can be used on chapped lips but when I researched the product, it mostly says good for dry hands.

If you have used it on your lips, how were your results?

I need something that works good! My lips are in pain and don't look so good, carmex isn't even helping. ='(Have you ever used ';Bag Balm'; on chapped lips?
Ok I don't know about Bag Balm, but try Burt's Bees lip balm. It is AMAZING. It is really effective and soothes your lips almost straight away. If you use it regularly, then your lips will soon look good!Have you ever used ';Bag Balm'; on chapped lips?
Have you sunburned your lips? Sure sound like it!

No, do not use bag balm on lips. It is great for hands and better for feet. You should not ingest it, as in licking your lips.

Find a lip balm with sunscreen/sunblock.

If pain continues see your doctor.

I get really chapped lips so I use a lot of lip balm, yet I tend to break out around my mouth. Whats a good li?

p balm that also doesn't clog your pores?I get really chapped lips so I use a lot of lip balm, yet I tend to break out around my mouth. Whats a good li?
Honestly your best bet is to drink more water. The first thing that dries out when your body does not get enough water is your epithelial cells (your lips) Then on top of that i would use a natural lip balm like Burt's Bees. It would probably help. Also when you put on your lip balm make sure to wipe around your lips so its not getting on your skin! I hope this helps! Good Luck!I get really chapped lips so I use a lot of lip balm, yet I tend to break out around my mouth. Whats a good li?
If you always get chapped lips its because you aren't drinking enough water, increase water intake, and you will stop the problem. However, a good lipbalm is blistex or lucas' papaw ointment (if you live in australia, not sure if they have it in other countries). Also use a lipbalm that has sunblock in it.
dry lips get chapped or irratated so if the balm has oil in it it will reduce the water evaporated off the lips while retaining the moisture and greasy the lips makes you lick at them to wet them try two lips balms try a wax balm first then apply a small amount of carmex lip balm over the wax they wont mix for a while then dont lick your lips at all the moisture will be sealed into the lips thus they will stay from being dry and then the carmex oily lip balm will make them feel wet and ease the chap feeling.

    THis is a great question

Ive tried CHAPSTIK and found my lips NOTHING BUT chapped the worst they had ever been in my life.

EVENTUALLY I came across BLISTEX, specifically the dark green one. It works everytime. Also, take note of your caffiene intake, when I drink more ice tea in the day, I notice that my lips are more prone to being chapped. What is the best brand of lip balm? one that does not make your lips even more chapped or dry eventually?
burts bees is by far the best

    avoid parifin wax
i like Blistex silk and shine
I personally like Bert's Bees lip balm. Avoid chap sticks that have alcohol in them, since they'll just dry out your lips more and make you more dependent on them as a result. I've read online before that this doesn't actually affect anything, but I'd rather not take my chances. Blistex is really great too.
The problem with flavored lipsticks/balms is that they make the wearer lick their lips and this causes chapping. So does certain ingrediants like those found in Chapstick. I like Carmex in a little jar. It's not flavored.
I personally use Carmex. I find that balms with too much wax dry out my lips or irritate them. Godloveya.
I like Carmix, or just plain Vicks.
Blistex is the best and the cheapest I've tried it's only 97 cents. WOW! For best and fast results put it on before you go to sleep and make sure to put alot of it on so it won't come off and in the morning they will be nice and smooth, and I gurantee they won't be chapped. It won't hurt them if you just try.

My lips were always chapped. I bought this clinique repairwear chapstick that I think is for women who get lines around their mouth, but I use it for my lips that peel and chap like there is no tomorrow. As long as I put it on twice a day (morning and night) It is a miracle worker. I havent had chepped lips since

How do you cure extremely chapped lips BESIDES drinking lots of water and using lip balm
First off, water hydrates the skin on your lips, then dries off to make them even more chapped then before. Lip balm/vaseline/biting the **** out of them worked for me when I had it.
DRINKING WATER WILL NOT HELP YOUR LIPS.
    Eat healthily.

The Body Shop's ';Lip Butter'; in Shea Butter.

It's so good and works a treat :)Chapped lips does anyone know of any lip balm or gloss that really helps chapped lips?
Try any lip balms that say ';intense moisture'; or something along those lines. Don't get any generic ones because they usually end up drying it out even more.

I used to have dry lips but I apply vaseline every night before I go bed and in the mornings when I wake up and about a month after I started my lips no longer needed it because they were never dry but I do it anyway, it's become a habit.

So try doing Vaseline every night but not as your main daytime lip balm.
Make your own... it's much better for your lips and it works well.

Get some beeswax, coconut oil, and essential oil (if you want flavour... I mix 2 drops of peppermint with 2 drops of cinnamon leaf)

Melt 1 tsp beeswax, mix with 1 tsp coconut oil and essential oil, fill the container you wish to use, let harden and then use,

Or, buy chap stick brand lip balms... they work pretty decent.
    Burt's Bees.

Without a doubt, the best lip balm ever. They have tinted lip balms and lip shimmers and lip glosses too. Some of that stuff you'll have to maybe buy off the internet, though. Drug stores and Wal-mart have the plain lip balm and sometimes the lip shimmers. I've seen stuff at Cracker Barrel too.

    Good luck!

Ok, well I MAY be able to help. That is a pretty big list though, and all of those things are main ingredients in alot of lip chaps.

So MY favorite, for getting rid of chapped lips (used to get chapped lips all the time.. then i started using this, fixed it and i've never got it again) and all natural not tested on animals and no fragrance is

    Burts Bees Beeswax Lip Balm.

    Its in a stick form.

    It contains:

Cera Abla (i think cera is wax so I'm assuming thats the beeswax)

Cocos nucifera (aka coconut.. can't taste it though),

    helianthus annuus (sunflower),

    Mentha Peperita (pepermint),

Tocopheryl acetate %26amp; tocopherol (don't know what that is but this is all natural so it will be the scientific name for something)

lanolin (Ok, its there, but far far down on the list)

    And symphytum officinale root extract,

rosmarinus officinalis leaf extract (aka rosemary)

That a whole lot of things you don't want, and it meets all of those except for the lanolin. Its tasty, i can't explian the taste, not coconut, maybe a LITTLE minty, but not strong. Nothing artificial. Not dyed (its off-white), No animal or animal testing, no collagen, no petroleum... Just a little lanolin but far far down on the list

GIve it a try, its seriously amazing and like, everyone's favorite lip balm that i've suggested it to :)Even if you don't like it.. It's worth a try!

And someone said abreva? Yea, don't use that. Its MEDICATED, and its for cold sores. Unless you want random medicine.. but sounds to me like you're going all natural?I would like to find a good lip balm that will help with chapped lips, and if in a stick, even better.?
There is a medicine called ';abreva'; and it really works. You put it on everyday all the time and after awhile you will never get a cold sore or chap lips again. Not sure if you will find all what you are looking for as far as no lanolin etc, but this stuff works great!

Can people get addicted to chap stick/lip balm. Are there any serious problems with excessive use of it?

Addicted To ... Lip Balm? It Happens

Most people use lip balms once in a while, but for a few people, those little tubes have become an obsession.

If you notice the people around you applying and re-applying lip balm, it may not be a sign of dry lips, but of an addiction, reported WEWS-TV in Cleveland.

There are actually Web sites devoted to the problem.

Carrie, a lip balm user, says she has to have her tube with her all the time -- and she applies it more than just now and then.

';It's almost involuntary, but probably 50 to 60 times a day,'; she said.

In case you doubt the addictive power of lip balm, it took only minutes in a crowd of people to find those who get pretty worked up about it, especially the flavored stuff, the television station reported.

';Oh yeah, and eat my lips, mmm,'; Louise Tufts said.

Dr. Kevin Cooper, a dermatologist at University Hospitals in Cleveland, offered a theory about how people get so stuck on their Chapsticks.

';I think it could become repetitive behavior, more like habit, in same sense that some people become fixated orally with smoking, or chewing on pens,'; Cooper said.

Ingredients like camphor and menthol give lips a tingly rush, another addictive sensation, WEWS reported. The problem is some of the ingredients can create the need for more lip balm.

';The menthol can be drying, can take out moisture and interfere with function of outer layer of skin, so don't have natural barrier anymore, so now need moisturization,'; Cooper said.

Using more can create the need for more. So how do you battle this addiction?

    ';The best way is to gradually wean down,'; Cooper said. ';Try to go to a couple times a day, maybe breakfast, lunch, dinner. Then try to cut one out, maybe over three to four weeks to get yourself off.';

Cooper recommends the most plain, unflavored wax-type lip balm when you do need one. He said fewer chemicals are better. More serious dermatitis around the lips may need medication. Can people get addicted to chap stick/lip balm. Are there any serious problems with excessive use of it?
As a general rule, people can be addicted to ANYTHING. So, sure, you can be compulsive about putting on chapstick. I doubt there could be any serious health issue behind it, unless you are eating a signficant amount of them a day.Can people get addicted to chap stick/lip balm. Are there any serious problems with excessive use of it?
In v.37:no.6 (1986: June) of the medical journal ';Cutis:cutaneous medicine for the practitioner';, W.B. Shelley authored an article entitled ';Chap Stick Acne.'; The abstract for this article is as follows:

    ';We describe two patients with an unusual, limited form of acne manifest as a single row of large, open comedones along the entire cutaneous margin of the upper lip. The acne began after repetitive application to the lips of Chap Stick in one patient and petroleum jelly (Vaseline) in the other. It was treated successfully by eliminating the Chap Stick and petroleum jelly, respectively, as well as by microincision and expression of the comedones. Petrolatum, the major ingredient of Chap Stick, appears to be responsible for this type of acne.';

This information was found in the National Library of Medicine's MEDLINE database. Please see your local library to find out how to get a hold of the full text of the article.

yes they sure can! my husband is so addicted to cherry chapstick, he has a tube in his pocket at all times, one in each of our 4 cars, by the bed, and in my purse.

we went to disney last summer and he forgot to bring his chapstick... we had to pay $8 for a generic lip blam at disney so he could be happy.
I go through phases where I use tons of chap stick, then I slow down. I think it depends on the humidity and how hydrated you are. You can become ';addicted'; to the way that your lips feel when they are thoroughly moisturized and as long as you are using a balm that doesn't contain menthol or any other medication you should be fine. Try Burt's Bees products or something all natural if you are concerned.
    Sounds like OCD to me.
im addicted to chapstick...its the one thing i cant live without...i use it about 10 times a day every day for the past 3 or 4 years and im just fine~!

lol, i used to be addicted to it for like half a year. no there arent any problems, unless you eat it... but when you put on A LOT, then it starts feeling like glue and tasting like cardboard.

    Hi,

No, people cant get addicted to it as if it were drugs, but yes, it can cause people to excessively use it, including myself. My dad has told me time and again that I shouldn't use it too often cus i'll never be able to let go of it. LOL. As far as serious problems go, I don't think that you'll have to worry about that, unless ur planning on eating it, or sumthin like that. Other than that, no.

  • What is the purpose of a balm for lips that always chap in the winter?

Winter is about three months. When spring comes, lips are healthy again. I think it is just a waste of money to buy a balm when lips naturally heal in the spring for most people. People use balm for beauty, NOT for health reasons. What is the purpose of a balm for lips that always chap in the winter?
The purpose is to have a waterproof shield to prevent the dry winter air from pulling moisture from your lips, reducing or preventing chapping.

If you like having dry, cracked, bleeding lips with dead skin hanging off them, dude no one is stopping you. You might re-think this attitude if you had someone to make out with, but something tells me you've never kissed a girl and probably never will. What is the purpose of a balm for lips that always chap in the winter?
Cracked lips are extremely painful, especially when you combine it with cold weather I would just prefer that i could talk and eat without constant niggling pain in my lips
I use balm year round so I have no idea what you mean... besides, balm really isn't that expensive, and do you want to walk around for 3 months with chapped, bleeding lips? That's incredibly unattractive.
It keeps your lips from drying out and getting chapped during harsh weather. Who wants to go all winter with chapped lips? It's very inexpensive and helpful; that's why people use it.
That is like saying why shower if you are just gonna go swimming in the summer.

Would you rather see someone with decent lips or someone with white flaky dead skin falling all over your desk?
When you go out and your lips are so chapped that they start to crack and split then what? Can your lips stand up to strong winds and cold? That's what Chapstick is for. To protect your lips from cracking and splitting which is very painful.

Lip gloss is used for beauty, but Chapstick is all about protecting your lips and keeping them healthy.

Nothing, ';Chap Stick'; is a brand nameWhat is the difference between lip balm and chap stick?
Chap stick is more of an instant relief for dry lips. Lip balm, on the other hand is more of a deep nourishing mositurizer for the lips. It lasts longer and is more rich. I hope this helps!

xo tinkerbell xoWhat is the difference between lip balm and chap stick?
As far as I know....Chapstick provides a protective layer on the surface of your lips while Lip Balm has moisturizers to soften the lips.
lip balm prevents chapped lips, and chap stick helps heal chapped lips. i think!
lip balm is more for style and chapstick it more for keeping your lips from drying
    nothing
yah chapstick is a brand but it is lip balm so they are the same and do the same things. either one is good. %26lt;333 emily
There is no difference. ChapStick is the name brand of a lip balm. The difference lies between lip balm and lip gloss. Lip balm soothes dry/cracked lips, lip gloss is usually tinted and makes lips shiny/goopy.
Chap Stick is a medicated form of lip balm, but with less flavors.

Chap Stick also has MANY more uses then lip balm.

For example: Chap Stick can be used as a lubricate to take off a stuck ring, or rub on joints of tools that are begining to rust. It can also be used on leather as a buffer, or a ';grease'; that you can rub along your hairline when dying your hair. Chap Stick can be used to ease the pain after a nic or cut, and/or can relieve the pain of a sore nose during the extreme winter weather.

    Chap Stick has many uses!
    Nothing.
Actually, they are the same thing, although lip balm is using known as being applied with your finger and ';chapstick'; is usually know as being applied in a stick. I believe this is rather slang now however can be very confusing - this is a very good question! Thanks for bring it up, I'm sure a lot of people are confusing about it!

Does preparation H make a good lip balm for chapped lips?

lol no use vaseline its the best for chapped lips.Does preparation H make a good lip balm for chapped lips?
Probably, some people use it for wrinkles by the eyes.

Why is it that lip balm sometimes makes chapped lips more painful?

There are a few possible reasons I can think of.

Most of the lip balms on the market contain petroleum products, such as mineral oil, petroleum jelly and paraffin wax. These form a slick layer on your lips, making it 'feel' like they're moist. What it really does is prevents your lips from absorbing moisture from the air, and fools your skin into thinking it has adequate moisture, so your lips stop producing it. So it pretty much ends up making chapped lips even drier, which hurts.

Many lip balms also contain synthetic flavors and fragrances. These chemicals can cause some degree of pain in raw, cracked or tender lips.

Some contain antiseptic ingredients (natural or synthetic), which can also hurt, like when you put alcohol, iodine, or any other antiseptic into a cut. (ugh, the childhood traumas of iodine)

Perhaps you should switch to another brand. Look for one that is made with pure plant based oils (like olive, sweet almond, etc) botanical extracts and beeswax. These oils will absorb into your lips and actually help your lips to heal. Burt's Bees is easy to find http://global.burtsbees.com/webapp/wcs/s鈥?/a>

Health food stores usually carry a number of different brands of natural lip balms, some with natural fragrance %26amp; flavor, and some without.

I hope this helpsWhy is it that lip balm sometimes makes chapped lips more painful?
try using a different lipbalm. You may need to use a medicated some lipbalm is just wax

Best lip balm for very chapped lips?

I've always seemed to have had very chapped lips since I was young but it's seemed to have gotten worse over the past few years. I usually use Vaseline or Carmex they work for a short time but my lips get chapped again very quickly. Can anyone recommend a more long lasting lipbalm?Best lip balm for very chapped lips?
I know its awful to have very chapped lips...the best remedy I use for my children when they have been snowboarding and forgot their chapstick (lips look raw and skin peels nearly to their chins) is vaseline... simple petroleum jelly...Works every time! All of the others we have tried end up drying out too quickly. We also use aveeno for chapped lips and that is great as a preventative... I hope that helps.Best lip balm for very chapped lips?
Firstly drink lots, to keep your lips hydrated.

Always carry around a chapstick for emergancys when your lips are really dry.

Put lip balm on after a shower as it will lock in the moisture.

Use a soft dry toothbrush and gently brush the lips to remove dead skin cells, do this often but if lips start to feel sore stop and do it less regurlary.

Also dont lick your lips as this dries them out.

I use the palmas cocabutter lipbalm, or the nivea one.

The labello or nivel in pearl and shine also leaves a nice shine to your lips as well as keeping them moisturised..

    Hope this helped x
Use Burt's Bees Medicated Lip Balm. Apply as much as you want to. In fact, put on more than you need. I freaking love this stuff. xD When your lips are chapped, but not, you know, peeling and stinging chapped, use Burt's Bees Replenishing Pomegranate Lip Balm. It keeps your lips moist, soft, and smooth.

Also, when you wear lipstick or lip gloss, make sure to put lip balm under it. You can also use Burt's Bees Lip Shimmer, which is like their lip balm, but it comes in about 10 different shades, and it's kind of shimmery. It goes on really smoothly, too.

Make sure to drink a lot of water. Sometimes, chapped lips are your body's way of telling you that it's thirsty.
most people say use blistex, nivea, n burts bees. u can try those but there are actually so many lip balms on the market that u cant try all of them before u find the rite one. the best lip balms i've used are:

    - the body shop - guarana lip butter

    - c.o. bigelow (at bath n body works) - lemon lip balm

    - lipstick (at daiso in vancouver) - grapefruit *

    - nivea - repair and protection

these are the lip balms that worked for me. i don't know if they'll work for you, but i definitely suggest buying lip balms from overseas places (like hong kong or japan) because those lip balms are made to soothe chapped lips in dry conditions.

    hope that helped :D
I love Lucas' Paw Paw Ointment. Its in a red tube and you get it from the chemist. My whole family loves it, and even got my friends onto it.

I found when I started using alot of chapstick, it was like my lips started relying on it, and I would have to put it on more and more frequently. If I didnt put it on for a while, my lips would be terrible. so maybe try putting on less product and less frequently, thats what I did, then my lips went back to normal.

And I always now resist the urge to lick my lips when they are dry- mum alwas said that this dries them out more (and mum always seems to be right)

    Good Luck!!
I've always thought Carmex %26amp; Burt's Bees were the best, but if Carmex isn't working for you...

Try Aesop Rosehip Seed Lip Treatment with shea butter or ChapStick Medicated lip balm with camphor and menthol.

Also, you should start drinking more water, dehydration is a major cause of chapped lips.
    Softlips! Works wonders.

Or Burts bees.. but i prefer Softlips. Looks better, since i need to carry stuff like that around everywhere with me

    xD Burts bees looks... ugly.

Oh, and vaseline doesnt work for everybody, especially me!

lmao, if vaseline doesnt work, then try softlips, its great cause it isnt all sticky like other lip balms, its easy to apply and works right away.
I had this problem too, and I used the Vaseline Aloe Vera (in the green round tin). My lips were so chapped that they were bleeding at times, so I put the Vaseline very very regularly, and it helped a lot.
Vitamin E cream.Has you get older your lips get thinner and crease. This

is the best to use to stop that and give fuller lips.As well as nourishing it

feeds the collagen keeping them protected from the weather.
    rosebud salve

    they have it at sephora

its on all the magazins that celebrities use

    i think its $7
blistex...but it's only a quick remedy, you'd have to use a good quality balm or even vaseline afterwards.

You must not be hydrated enough or you're spending too much time with the central heating on...
i had the same problem, some nice lady from boots told me to try blistex for chapped lips..gone within a week!:) it does sting at the beginning but it is so worth it
nieva works great and so does softlips! you can find them at most drug stores and walmart and ect.
Burt's Bees All the way. Or even the Gap Lip Chap works really good believe it or not. But I say Burts will have you covered
Try Nurture Conditioning Lip Balm, or Ren Biomimetric Perfect Lip Honey!
    Carmex or Aveda
    BLISTEX! for sure

but people say bert bee stuff is really good too but its more expensive your choice
    carmex
    Mary Kay's satin lips
    a jar of Vaseline
